The Best Search Engine

Do you remember the time when you had just started using the internet? Quite some while ago now, hey? Well at that time you might have used the internet just to check your emails. Than once you got bored of just reading your mail you started using a search engine to explore the internet. Do you still remember what search engine you used to use? Personally in 1997 I used Mamma but than a few years later I started using Yahoo and finally, since around 2001, I’ve been using Google. But wait, just because I am using Google it doesn’t mean that Google is the best search engine. I don’t believe that there is a search engine that everyone must use, every person has different expectations of what a search engine should have and do and should choose the best one for him. In my case I use Google for 3 main reasons which are:

  1. Speed - Google is very fast and for me time is very precious
  2. Results Relevance - I find Google’s search results to be the best around at present
  3. Market Share - As you might already know Google has the biggest market share when it comes to search and since I work as a full time search engine marketer I would like to know what the majority of internet users are finding when searching on Google.

Other current top search engines are Yahoo, Live, Ask and Dogpile. Below you’ll find a table that lists these search engines and rates every feature from 1 to 10, with 10 being excellent.

Search Engine Simplicity Speed Search Results
Google 10 10 9
Yahoo 9 7 7
Live 8 8 5
Ask 8 7 7
Dogpile 8 6 8
